The MS Ride. This is the
5th year my son has participated in the ride. It is called the
MS
150 Charity Bike Ride. There are 13,000 bikers and Chad
finished last year #23-meaning he was the #23th top fund raiser. He is
in the 300 club! He raised over $15,000 this year-he was short of his
goal which was $17,000.
The ride starts in Houston
and the bikers ride to La Grange Tx. the first day. The 2nd day they
ride from La Grange to downtown Austin-the finish line is in front of
the state capitol. It is an awesome event.
You see other MS families,
MS patients on the side lines. T.C. my husband and I have
worked it the past 4 years. We help get bikes to Houston, we help feed
the team, etc. Chad rides on a team called The Wheels of Love.
Take this info and wait for pictures.
My brother
suffered from MS for 28 years. He was a warrior as far as fighting his
disease and being a positive effect on others that suffered from this
terrible diseases. He died Feb. 2004. I still miss him terribly.
Thanks, Sally -------

Last year the
Class of 63 donated $500 to the local SS Boys
and Girls Club. We issued a challenge to other classes from SSHS to match or
better us, but we know that couldn't be, because we were the best class ever
to graduate from dear old Sulphur High (tee hee). Anyway, if the 65 group
is interested, contact the local Boys and Girls Club, 201 Houston ST., SS
75482. phone 903 438 8404. It's a great cause for the youth of SS.

| Chad Hamilton, my son raised just over
$15,000 for the MS Charity Bike Ride. He is the #2 top fundraiser in
Austin and hopes to be in the top 25 for the entire group. He rode in the
Lone Star Chapter Event-(I think) The overall results have not been
announced as yet. There were over 13,000 bikers this year riding in the
event and my son was in the top 25!!!! This was an increase from 12,000 the
year before. The ride had to be closed as they could not accommodate any
other riders due to safety, man power, etc. It is an overwhelming event to
watch. T.C. and I have worked the event for the past 3 years and it brings
such joy to both of us. This was our son's 4th year and he continues to
increase his fundraising each year. He has ridden on a team for the last 2
years, but does his own fundraising individually. I am grateful for each of
you that donated to my son's efforts. Get ready as he is gearing up to ride
again this Spring and you will be hearing from him once again. As you know
he does this ride in memory of his uncle, my brother, Buddy Mayes
who died of MS after a 28 year struggle with the terrible disease. We
continue to reach out to friends that we know personally that suffer from
this disease. |
